Going Greek

By 1800FlyEurope in Destination Highlights | on April 30th, 2010

When one talks about traveling to Greece, the first things that come to mind are usually seeing the Acropolis, the Parthenon and other such popular attractions of Athens. Of course it is great to visit all of these sites and your trip to Greece would not be complete without seeing them, but there is so much more to do than the norm!

If you enjoy outdoor adventures and are staying in Heraklion, a fun activity you can do is take a Jeep Safari in the Cretan Mountains.  You’ll be picked up from your hotel in and then taken through some small villages until you reach the town of Kastelli for coffee and a stretch.  From there, the Jeep heads up into the mountain range of Asteroussia which leads to Tsoutsouros Beach.  Here you will be given some free time for a swim or a stroll and then lunch is served at a local tavern.  After lunch, more off roading adventures await you before heading back.

While visiting Santorini Island, a fun adventure to participate in is the Volcano Tour. ¬†A guide will pick you up from one of three departure points (Fira Town, Kamari Town and Perissa Town) and take you to the port. From Athinio Port, embark a sailing vessel with your guide and head to the volcano.¬† While exploring this volcano on foot, you can walk all the way up to the face if you’re feeling brave!¬†¬† Afterwards, you will sail to the Hot Springs and be given the chance to swim to the warm waters before going back.

Be sure to take full advantage of your trip to Greece with all the highlights of Athens. On the Athens Half Day Tour, visitors are taken by the Acropolis, Constitution Square, the Panathenaic Stadium, the Parthenon and much more!
