Second Hand Glam and Thrift Store Dreams

By 1800FlyEurope in Destination Highlights | on December 27th, 2010

Okay, I’ll admit it. I am a second hand store addict. No matter where I travel, I must go on a search for the best thrift shops around. I am never looking for one particular item, just something that catches my eye. It could be a Beatles record or a set of Tupperware salt and pepper shakers. Maybe a rusty, old metal fan or a pair of ladies’ Sunday gloves will make the trip home with me. It’s always an adventure.

London is chock full of such emporiums for people who love this kind of shopping as much as I do. Here are just a few of the places in London that sell a variety of wonderful items that I didn’t even know I wanted.

Cenci – Specializing in vintage clothing and accessories, Cenci offers the best of the best from the past 80 years. Whether you are searching for a hat from 1934, a scarf from the 70s or a belly shirt from 1993, Cenci is the place to find it!

Retro Clothing – Located conveniently at Notting Hill Gate next to Portobello Road (which is my favorite place in London) is Retro Clothing. This store is one among many of Music & Goods Exchange Ltd. It offers a wide range of gently used clothing, accessories and jewelry for men and women.

Beyond Retro РEvery style of clothing you could possibly want you will find in Beyond Retro. Top hats, sequined dresses, tooled leather bags, flowered swim caps…need I go on? With 2 stores in London, I’m in vintage heaven!

Elemental РIf you’re looking for unique home décor, try Elemental. You can find just about anything here. Need an outdoor marble-top table? A chandelier that resembles jacks? How about a Moroccan metalwork framed mirror? Elemental has all of that and more! Even if you’re just browsing around, there is so much to marvel at in Elemental, you will more likely than not find something you never knew you always wanted.

Why take my word for it? Find a cheap flight to London and see for yourself all the bargains and deals that await you.
