A few weeks ago marked the anniversary of the falling of the Berlin wall. The last 15 years has allowed many of these former Eastern Bloc countries to flourish through tourism, commerce and industry. This also has allowed many travelers the chance to visit a part of the world that few people have in the last Century.
The countries terrain’s are diverse: from mountains, rolling hills and rural farmlands to white sandy beaches and resorts. Rustic villages line the landscape where locals live as they have done for centuries. The architecture throughout is stunning, offering amazing cathedrals, war torn buildings, Gothic designs and new construction alike.
With the heavy hand of communism lifted, new life has just recently been breathed into these countries allowing tourists to experience the vitality offered by the countries and it’s people. Check out some great flight deals to the former Eastern Europe.

For example, if you are taking a trip to Paris, we could book for you the “Cruise and Moulin Rouge Tour”. On this particular tour, formal dress is required. You will be picked up at your hotel and taken on a night cruise down the River Seine to see the illuminated monuments then shuttled to the Moulin Rouge for the show.
We also have the “Paris at a Glance, Lunch and Versailles” tour. On this tour, you will be picked up at your hotel in the morning and driven around Paris to see the popular sights such as Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triumph, The Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre and more. You will be taken to the Eiffel Tower for lunch and after lunch your guide will take you to Versailles where you will be given free time to explore.
With a lot of these city tours we book, you are getting two or more things at one price. Also, since they are booked and paid for up front before you go, you don’t have to worry about the hassle of exchange rates or waiting in lines to buy your tickets, etc.

There are a large number of things to see and do in Iceland, in all seasons. In winter months, some popular pastimes include skiing at Blafjoll, snowmobiling on Glacier Langjokull and dog sledding on the Myrdalsjokull Glacier in south Iceland. When else can you say you went snowmobiling or dog sledding across a glacier? And of course, you can’t go to Iceland in the winter without visiting the Blue Lagoon! It is said this is the most photographed place in Iceland, and it’s easy to see why. The water is a beautiful frosty blue, but the water itself is not frosty. The mineral rich, soothing geothermal pool reaches an average temperature of about 104 °F. The Blue Lagoon is open all year.
There are many museums and galleries, theatres and festivals year round to keep the city of Reykjavik alive and thriving. An annual Summer Solstice Festival is held on 21 June to honor the Vikings. Locals get together for midnight events, dress in traditional Viking garb and enjoy singing, dancing, eating and drinking; the bars stay open until the very wee hours of the morning for this event. Due to the midnight sun, 24-hour golf is available during the month of June. There are many golf courses located across Iceland for your 3:00 a.m. golf cravings. If water sports are your preference, you could go white water rafting, kayaking, or deep sea fishing. There are also whale watching safaris operating from April – September.
Iceland is also one of the least expensive places to travel to in Europe. 1-800 Fly Europe offers great discounted rates on flights to Reykjavik. Package your flight with sightseeing tours, hotel accomodation and a car rental to receive additional savings; you will be able to pat yourself on the back for not only saving money, but for planning such a great, memorable trip!
Hello Travelers! This week I would to talk to you about how bundling your travel plans can save you time and money. There was a time not long ago when you could go to a travel agent and book your ENTIRE vacation, all under one roof! Purchasing all your items in one place made it easy for you plan, pay and god forbid, make changes if something came up. These days you can still find “packages” at the big box online stores but most of them end up being a generic discount for a generic vacation package. 1-800 Fly-Europe will custom tailor a vacation package for you including flights, car rentals, hotels and even cruises! Here is an example of a simple Italian package but the possibilities are endless.
